Office Sunday, July 16th 2017.
How about squeezing a workable office out of a closet and table? This feminine setup does just that. Using a nearby closet for office equipment and storage, a person’s inspiration can flow freely while sitting at a chic office space complete with Eames-inspired pedestal table in a rolling egg chair. Disco, anyone? Not all homes have ideal home office setups, of course. A big part of fun (and challenge) is finding ways to incorporate a usable home office into the space you do have. This photo may not translate into your own space, but don’t you find it terribly inspiring nonetheless?
Incorporate Shelves. Possibly the next most important step toward home office organization is the implementation and use of functional shelves. I say “functional” here because the shelves themselves will vary based upon the user’s needs. One must first take inventory of what s/he needs the shelves for and then plan their size accordingly. Should they be deep enough for binders, tall enough for files or brushes, or wide enough for measuring sticks? Figure out exactly what you need the shelves for, and customizing them will be much easier and more efficient.
Those who prefer elements that are practical and care less about the looks might be happier with a country décor. This particular style is dominated by the inclination towards efficiency and practicality. The looks are less important and the furniture starts to get simpler, with no decorative details and the users are more preoccupied with the comfort level and their immediate needs rather than concern about the way the other perceive their home. Now that you know the main characteristics of these three directions you can choose which one would work best for you. After all, the office is a private space where the most important person is you and your needs and preferences are those that matter the most.
